Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember you and work properly across sessions.

What cookies do we use?

Essential cookies

These are required for Akre to work. They handle sign-in, session security, and payment processing. You can't opt out of these without breaking core functionality.

Analytics cookies

We use Vercel Analytics to understand how people navigate Akre. All data is anonymised and never sold. These only activate after you give consent.

Error monitoring

We use Sentry to catch bugs and errors before they affect you. These only activate after you give consent.

Third-party services

Akre uses a small number of trusted third-party services that may set their own cookies: Clerk (sign-in), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (security), Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting), Sentry (errors), and Anthropic (AI bill reading). Each operates under its own privacy policy.

AI bill reading

When you upload a bill, its contents are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to extract and categorise expenses. Anthropic does not use your documents to train its models. Your data is returned to Akre and stored securely in your account.

Your data, your choice

When you first visit Akre, we'll ask for your cookie preferences. You can:

You can also clear cookies at any time through your browser settings.

Data retention

Account and document data is deleted within 30 days of closing your account. Financial records are kept for 7 years as required by Canadian tax law (CRA). Analytics and error logs are cleared within 90 days.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA and BC PIPA), you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To make a request, email us at admin@akre.ca and we'll respond within 30 days.
